What content chunking is
Content chunking is how retrieval systems split a page into passages before deciding what to quote. ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI features do not weigh your page as a whole: they pull individual 50 to 200 word chunks and use the ones that make sense on their own. A passage that leans on the paragraph above it dies the moment it is extracted.
Analyses of AI answers also show position matters: a large share of citations come from the first third of a page. If your strongest, most quotable passages sit near the end, they are buried where retrieval rarely looks. The front-load meter above measures exactly that.
What each passage is scored on
Four checks, all evidenced in published research on AI citations:

  2. 2. Does it answer first, instead of winding up before the point?
  3. 3. Does it carry concrete facts and figures?
  4. 4. Does it name specific entities rather than staying abstract?
Fix the red passages first: restate the payload instead of pointing at it, add one sourced figure, resolve the pronouns. Then re-run the map and watch the chunks turn green before you publish.

How much content do I need to paste?
This tool needs article-length content: about 300 words or more for a meaningful map. Shorter pastes will not produce a useful passage score.
What is the front-load check, and why does it matter?
